Iggy Pop’s performance on Later…with Jools Holland is a must-see
Iggy Pop Later with Jools Holland

Iggy Pop was an exciting guest on last night’s edition of the always eclectic Later… with Jools Holland, performing a new slice of music as well as a classic track.

The aging rocker proved he’s still very much got it while running through ‘Sunday’, taken from his recent solo album Post Pop Depression.

As on that record, he was backed by Queens of the Stone Age‘s Josh Homme and Arctic Monkey‘s Matt Helders. You can watch the performance here:

As well as tearing through some new music, the 69-year old also unleashed a frenetic rendition of his classic ‘Lust For Life’, made famous by the film Trainspotting:

Elsewhere on the show, Manchester band Blossoms performed ‘Getaway’, a cut from their recently announced self-titled debut album, while Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills & Nash fame delivered ‘This Path Tonight’ from his recently released album of the same name.

That wasn’t all though, as the typically varied line-up also saw performances from French singer Lou Doillon, Nashville singer-songwriter Margo Price and contemporary reggae singer Protoje.

Last night’s episode was the penultimate edition of the show’s 48th (!) series.

Next week’s final show will see performances veteran alt-rockers Dinosaur Jr., The Last Shadow Puppets performing tracks from their recent chart-topping album Everything You’ve Come to Expect, east London neo-soul singer Nao, Californian singer-songwriter Bonnie Raitt, and more.
