Everyone loves a good burger. And we’re not ashamed to admit we’d happily eat burgers for breakfast if we thought we could get away with it.

Luckily, there are a range of breakfast and brunch burgers across the capital designed to satisfy your meaty morning cravings.

Here are five of the best.

Honest Burgers

The Brunch Burger (£8.50) from Honest Burgers – with branches across the city – consists of a 120g beef patty (150g patty available on request), topped with smoked bacon, Red Leicester cheese, garlic mushrooms, bubble and squeak and ketchup. In case that isn’t enough, it is also served with rosemary salted chips.

If a dry aged patty topped with smoked pork belly and runny fried egg sounds like the perfect way to start your day, then you’ll love HotBox’s brunch burger (£12), served from 11.30am at weekends. Following residencies at Street Feast’s Dalston Yard, Hawker House and Battersea Power Station, HotBox has parked up its industrial smoker permanently in the heart of Spitalfields, and they also offer a Liquid Brunch with unlimited Prosecco, Mimosa and Bloody Mary for £25.

46-48 Commercial St, E1 6LT –

Chick ‘n’ Sours

You already know this Dalston joint for its superb fried chicken, soft-serve ice cream and cocktails. But they also do a brunch bun (£12), piled high with fried thigh, fried egg and bacon and topped with avocado, hot sauce and gochujang mayo. A guaranteed hangover beater, and a deliciously messy start to the weekend.

Patty & Bun

Burger supremos Patty & Bun offer a range of breakfast burgers at their Liverpool Street branch, served Thursday and Friday 7.30am – 9.30am. The P&B sausage consists of a sausage patty, egg, cheese and chipotle ketchup on a brioche bun (£4.50), and you can have cheesy hash browns on the side. London Fields branch ‘The Arch’ also offers a brunch menu with a range of brunch buns, from smoked pork belly with fried egg, hot sauce and Westcombe cheddar to crispy bacon with chipotle ketchup, fried egg and hot dog onions on wood-grilled ciabatta.

22 Liverpool Street EC2m 7PD or 397 Mentmore Terrace, London Fields, Hackney E8 3PH –

Lantana cafes are a group of proudly independent cafes serving some of London’s best coffee. The weekend brunch, served from 9.30am until 3pm, includes an English muffin burger (£9.80) complete with a sausage patty, bacon, fried egg, hollandaise butter, smoked cheddar, spinach and chilli jam.
